About
Francisca Avila
Francisca is a Registered Physiotherapist who works exclusively on pelvic floor related conditions. She holds a Master of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa (2009), and a Bachelor of Sciences in Human Kinetics from the University of Québec at Montreal (2007). She is a member in good standing of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, and she belongs to the Canadian Physiotherapy Association; the Ontario Physiotherapy Association; the Pelvic and Reproductive Health division of the CPA; and the International Continence Society. Francisca has developed her proficiency in the field of pelvic health through post-graduate courses and training, and she is dedicated to deliver the best care to her clients.
Francisca discovered her affinity for women’s health when seeking alternatives to alleviate her own perinatal related conditions. She provides treatment in a safe and caring environment through a collaborative and evidence-based approach that is tailored to the clients’ needs. Unfortunately, many women believe that pelvic floor related dysfunction is normal and that they just need to live with it. Francisca strives to raise awareness of the benefits of pelvic health so that more women will seek help and improve their quality of life.
Francisca has been a part-time professor and teaching assistant at the University of Ottawa, in Physiotherapy and Human Kinetics. She has also been a research assistant at the Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute. Francisca is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
